6/2/20 UPDATE: The 2020 Catalina Classic Paddleboard Race has been CANCELLED due to COVID-19.
We tried our best to make it happen but we’re unable to obtain the necessary permits. Stay strong during these challenging times and be good to one another.

The following are the qualifying requirements to be eligible to race in the 2021 Catalina Classic Paddleboard Race on Sunday, August 29th, 2021.
RETURNING QUALIFIED PADDLERS:
Qualified paddlers must have completed the prior year’s race by the 9 hour time cut-off as specified in the document titled “RULES GOVERNING THE CATALINA CLASSIC MARATHON PADDLEBOARD RACE.”
The $250 entry fee and completed application are due TBD, 2021 to hold your place in the 100 person field.
Your completed application MUST be received by the Catalina Classic Race Committee by the final deadline of TBD.
Completed application means all paddler information (include escort boat information) and application fee must included with your online application.
NON QUALIFIED PADDLERS:
Paddlers who did not complete last year’s race within the 9 hour cut-off MUST compete in at least one of the paddleboard races listed below.
A $30 non- refundable application fee and completed application are due by TBD
Qualifying race results for each paddler will be used to determine entry into this year’s race as space is limited.
Qualifying Races: The status of most of these Races are CANCELLED , as we are unsure about County permits due to Covid19. Please check the individual race websites for the most up to date information.
- The Loop: Coronado Island
- The South Bay Paddle: Hermosa Beach
- Jesse King Memorial Paddle: Morro Bay- register on Paddleguru
- The Rock2Rock : Catalina 2 Harbors
- The Waterman’s : San Diego- Swami’s
Qualifying spots will be determined by the Race Directors with the following considerations:
A) the paddler’s overall placing in the respective qualifying race
B) the paddler’s finishing time based on the time standard set forth in the “RULES GOVERNING THE CATALINA CLASSIC MARATHON PADDLEBOARD RACE.”
The number of available open spots will be determined by the number of qualified paddlers returning .
Upon completion of the June qualifying races, the Directors will notify paddlers that are re-qualifying of their racing status on or before by TBD.
For those paddlers needing to qualify, once you are notified that you’re in the race, the balance of your registration payment ( $220) will be due upon notification. This MUST be received by TBD.
The Catalina Classic Paddleboard race is held the weekend before Labor Day weekend.
This year the race will begin on August 29, 2021, at 6:00 a.m.
